St. Petersburg, Fla. (May 3, 2018) – St. Petersburg businessman and philanthropist Bill Edwards announced today that Big 3 Entertainment, his entertainment and venue management company, along with the Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts, are bringing an expanded schedule of live music and entertainment events to both Al Lang and the Duke Energy Center for the Arts – Mahaffey Theater.
The shows are being presented in conjunction with Live Nation Florida. Live Nation is the world’s leading live entertainment company comprised of global market leaders: Ticketmaster, Live Nation Concerts and Live Nation Media & Sponsorship.
Al Lang Live, the series for the Rowdies home venue, will offer up top acts including hair band icons Poison, Grammy-nominated and AMA-winning 3 Doors Down, Collective Soul, Grammy-winning Soul Asylum, Grammy-winning Lauryn Hill and Oscar-nominated Counting Crows. Shows are scheduled for traditionally slower dates and days of the week, in order to maximize the economic impact for the city and surrounding businesses.
The Duke Energy Center for the Arts – Mahaffey Theater will feature events including Vice President Joe Biden’s American Promise Tour, acclaimed magician and illusionist David Blaine, legends Donny and Marie Osmond, Erasure and The Greatest Love of All – The Whitney Houston Show featuring Belinda Davids.
“When I took over management of both the Mahaffey Theater and Al Lang Stadium, both venues were underutilized, and the ‘season’ ended in May,” said Edwards. “But now we are going to be able to bring more events and more activity to our ever-growing downtown – in a responsible and meaningful way. We are booking activity during the slow months, scheduling shows at Al Lang during the early evening in order to be done early, while continuing to work hard to maintain the good relationship we have with our neighbors. This really is a win-win for the city, the business community and fans of great live music and entertainment.”
Tickets for the upcoming Al Lang Live shows can be purchased at ticketmaster.com or by calling 800-745-3000. For tickets to Mahaffey Theater events, visit themahaffey.com or call 727-892-5767. Members of the Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts receive access to the best seats, waived ticketing fees and a variety of other benefits. Membership supports local arts education programming, including Class Acts, celebrating its 25th season providing arts opportunities to children throughout the community.
