ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (February 1, 2018) — As the calendar turned to February, the Tampa Bay Rowdies officially opened preseason training camp in preparation for the 2018 United Soccer League season.
The Rowdies reported to Al Lang Stadium and were put through their paces for a little more than an hour of intense work at the USF St. Petersburg practice field under the watchful eyes of Head Coach Stuart Campbell.
Tampa Bay’s 13 returning players were joined by a handful of newcomers and a few non-rostered trialists. As a group, they progressed through warm-ups and drills before advancing into a short scrimmage.
The Rowdies will need to get up to speed quickly with a preseason match against USL foe FC Cincinnati on the schedule for next weekend, Saturday, February 10. The match will be played at IMG Academy in Bradenton with a 3:30 p.m. kickoff. Admission is open to the public and free for all to attend.
The 2018 Rowdies will make their Al Lang Stadium debut in just two weeks when they take on the Montreal Impact on Saturday, February 17 at 7:30 p.m. on the first night of the Rowdies Suncoast Invitational. That match will be preceded by Philadelphia Union vs D.C. United at 5 p.m.
