ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (October 23, 2017) — Tampa Bay Rowdies fans have overwhelmingly voted for Marcel Schäfer as their Man of the Match for his performance in the Rowdies’ 3-0 win over FC Cincinnati on Saturday night in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.
Schäfer scored two goals in the first 25 minutes of the match, setting the tone for a dominating win from the very start.
His first goal came from a sharp angle in the eighth minute, beating Cincinnati goalkeeper Mitch Hildebrandt and spotting Tampa Bay to an early lead. His second goal came immediately after a Cincinnati turnover with Schäfer finishing from outside the box for a 2-0 lead.
Schäfer now has seven goals this season, including four in the Rowdies’ last two home matches.
