
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (May 17, 2017) — The Tampa Bay Rowdies learned their 3rd Round Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup opponent, after The Miami FC (NASL) defeated South Florida Surf (PDL) 3-2 on Wednesday night.
The Rowdies will face a familiar foe on Wednesday, May 31, when they travel south to face The Miami FC at Riccardo Silva Stadium on Florida International University’s campus. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

The Rowdies advanced to the Third Round with a 3-0 win over the NPSL’s Jacksonville Armada FC U23 on Tuesday night. Kyle Porter, Alex Morrell and Martin Paterson scored the goals for the Rowdies.
Miami FC advanced to the Third Round with a 3-2 win over the PDL’s South Florida Surf on Wednesday night. South Florida’s two goals were scored by former Rowdies Darwin Espinal and Jeff Michaud.
Tampa Bay went 0-3-0 (W-T-L) against Miami last season when both teams were in the NASL.
The United States Soccer Federation announced Thursday morning that the winner of Miami FC vs. the Rowdies will play Major League Soccer’s Orlando City SC in Orlando in the Fourth Round. The potential match against Orlando City SC would be on June 13/14. Date and kickoff time has yet to be determined.
