The Tampa Bay Rowdies today announced the signing of forward Daniel Antoniuk to a one-year contract.
Antoniuk (6-3, 197) played for FC Edmonton in 2011, posting three goals and two assists in 21 matches. Antoniuk began his professional career with the Portland Timbers in 2003 and notched 13 goals in 24 games for the Timbers in 2005.
During his long professional career, Antoniuk has seen action for several teams, including the Montreal Impact, Atlanta Silverbacks, Carolina RailHawks, Charleston Battery and FC Edmonton. He led the league in both points and assists in 2007, helping the Silverbacks to the championship game and was chosen as a first-team all-league selection.
In other team news, the Rowdies signed midfielder Shane Hill to a two-year contract, which includes a club option for the 2013 season. Hill saw action in 16 games with 10 starts in 2011 for Tampa Bay, totaling five points on two goals and one assist. The team earned points in seven of Hill’s 10 starts, including six victories. The Rowdies also declined their 2012 option on assistant coach David Hayes and he is no longer with the club.
The Rowdies open the 2012 season on the road at Puerto Rico on Saturday, April 7 before hosting FC Edmonton in the home opener on Saturday, April 14 at 7:30 p.m. at Al Lang. The Rowdies will start their preseason training camp on March 1, 2012 and will announce their preseason match schedule at a later date.
