ST. PETERSBURG. Fla. – The USL Championship announced the Team of the Week for Week 24 of the regular season on Tuesday, with Tampa Bay Rowdies Defender Conner Antley earning a spot for his performance in the club’s 2-0 win over Rhode Island FC.
Antley nabbed the winning goal for the Rowdies in his third appearance since arriving in Tampa Bay on loan from DC United nearly two weeks ago. The Georgia native may be new to this year’s squad, but he’s no stranger to Rowdies fans after making over 100 appearances for the club from 2021-2023. Despite being a member of the Rowdies 100 appearances club, last Saturday’s left-footed strike from the right side of the box to break the scoreless deadlock with Rhode Island in the 61st minute marked Antley’s first-ever goal for the Rowdies.
Antley also aided on the defensive side during his 84-minute shift against Rhode Island. The 31-year-old defender recorded five recoveries, two tackles, two clearances, and one interception to help the Rowdies secure their league-leading tenth shutout of the season.
The Rowdies are on the road this Saturday, August 22 at 7 p.m. ET for a head-to-head meeting with Detroit City FC. Tampa Bay aims to strengthen their lead atop the Eastern Conference standings and in the hunt for the USL Championship Players’ Shield with ten matches left to play in the regular season.
