ST. PETERSBURG – Today, the Tampa Bay Rowdies announced that Assistant Coach Jonathan Stead will join departing Head Coach Neill Collins as a member of the coaching staff at English Football League One side Barnsley FC. On Thursday, the Rowdies announced that the club reached an agreement with Barnsley to allow Collins to become their new manager.
Collins and Stead will coach their final match for the Rowdies this Saturday at Al Lang Stadium when the club hosts Oakland Roots SC. Following that, Assistant Coach Stuart Dobson will serve as Interim Head Coach while the Rowdies conduct a search for the next full-time head coach.
Stead joined the Rowdies technical staff ahead of the 2022 USL Championship season. A prolific scorer himself during a nearly 20-year playing career in England, Stead helped shape the Rowdies into a formidable attack. Last year, the Rowdies set a club record and led all teams with 73 goals during the regular season.
