Tampa Bay Rowdies 5 – 0 Ottawa Fury FC
Al Lang Stadium, St. Petersburg, Florida
Goals from Georgi Hristov, Leo Fernandes (2), Joe Cole and Zac Portillos carried the Rowdies to their first 5-0 win in modern Rowdies history. With another three points in the bag, and a healthy boost in the goal difference column, Tampa Bay is now in first place.
FC Cincinnati 0 – 1 Louisville City FC
Nippert Stadium, Cincinnati, Ohio
New-look FC Cincinnati failed its first major test of the season, losing its home opener to its fiercest rival. Cameron Lancaster gave Louisville City FC a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute and Cincinnati was unable to reply.
Nashville SC 2 – 0 Charlotte Independence
First Tennessee Park, Nashville, Tennessee
Charlotte opened the season with three wins in three matches at home, but wasn’t able to take that same success on the road to Tennessee. Nashville’s Alan Winn scored in the 24th minute and then Ropapa Mensah secured the win with a strike in extra time on an assist from former Rowdies goalkeeper Matt Pickens.
