ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (October 2, 2017) — The Tampa Bay Rowdies didn’t quite clinch their spot in the USL Cup Playoffs this weekend, though they did get within touching distance of their first postseason spot since 2012 with a 1-1 draw against the Bethlehem Steel FC.

Here’s a look at how the Eastern Conference matches we highlights in our preview last week ended up.
Tampa Bay Rowdies 1 – 1 Bethlehem Steel FC
Al Lang Stadium, St. Petersburg, Fla.
The Rowdies finished the weekend in the same spot they started it, fourth place in the USL’s Eastern Conference. While a win would have booked their spot in the Playoffs, a draw didn’t hurt the Rowdies. Sebastian Guenzatti erased the Rowdies’ 1-0 deficit in the 80th minute with his first goal of the season.
Charlotte Independence 0 – 1 FC Cincinnati
Sportsplex at Matthews, Matthews, N.C.
Charlotte continued its slump Friday night with a home loss to FC Cincinnati. Kevin Schindler scored Cincinnati’s goal in the 75th minute and the Independence had a great chance to equalize the match in stoppage time, but Mitch Hildebrandt saved Jorge Herrera’s penalty kick to seal the result.
Rochester Rhinos 0 – 0 Louisville City FC
Capelli Sport Stadium, Rochester, N.Y.
Louisville secured the top spot in the Eastern Conference with a scoreless draw in Rochester, but, more importantly, prevented the Rhinos from being able to move past the Rowdies into fourth place.
Ottawa Fury FC 1 – 1 Charleston Battery
TD Place, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
Ottawa nearly beat the visiting Battery after Steevan Dos Santos put the hosts ahead early, but even holding Charleston to a draw means the Rowdies can move into second place with a home win over the New York Red Bulls II on Wednesday night.
