ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (April 24, 2017) -- Tampa Bay Rowdies fans have selected Joe Cole as their Man of the Match for his performance in Saturday's late 3-2 loss to the Charleston Battery.
Cole scored the Rowdies opening goal in the 34th minute when a Georgi Hristov shot was saved by Charleston goalkeeper Odisnel Cooper, but Cole was there to pounce on the rebound and blast it home to put Tampa Bay ahead.
After being rested in Tampa Bay’s previous match and playing 10 minutes off the bench, Cole was restored to the Starting XI on Saturday night as captain. He played 81 minutes, competing 32 passes at a completion percentage of 84.4 percent, including 72.4 percent in the Battery half. Cole took two shots on the night, both were on target. He also had one successful cross and three interceptions.
This is Cole's second Man of the Match selection this season. He is second on the team with two goals.
