ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (April 10, 2017) -- Tampa Bay Rowdies fans have selected Georgi Hristov as their Man of the Match for his performance in Saturday's 1-0 win over Ottawa Fury FC.
Hristov had the only goal of the match, a 47th minute header on a deflected Luke Boden cross. It was his third goal in as many games to start the season.
Hristov has played all 270 minutes this season, but moved to a new starting spot for Saturday night's match, playing on the left side of midfield in place of the injured Leo Fernandes. Hristov had started the first two matches of the year as a central striker. The Bulgarian didn't have his sharpest performance, creating two chances and taking just two shots, but his goal provided the moment of magic the Rowdies needed to win the match.
This is Hristov's first Man of the Match selection this season.
