ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (June 6, 2019) -- The Tampa Bay Rowdies return home this weekend to open up a short two-game homestand against a familiar foe.
Here are a few of the biggest matches happening in the Eastern Conference this weekend.
Tampa Bay Rowdies vs. North Carolina FC
Saturday, 7:30 p.m. | ESPN+
The Rowdies have a four-point cushion at the top of the table but that could close to three points after New York's match Friday night. Sebastian Guenzatti scored a hat trick the last time he played NCFC.
North Carolina will hope a trend from last season continues as the road team won all three matches between these teams in 2018.
Atlanta United 2 vs. New York Red Bulls II
Friday, 7:30 p.m. | ESPN+
Atlanta sits just above the playoff line via a tiebreaker advantage over Bethlehem. Atlanta has drawn three straight matches but hasn't won since April 13.
New York snapped a two-game losing skid with a 4-0 win over Bethlehem last weekend with the aid of a penalty kick and an own goal to keep the pressure on the Rowdies.
Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC vs. Ottawa Fury FC
Saturday, 7 p.m. | ESPN+
Pittsburgh surprisingly still sits below the playoff line with only two wins in 10 matches this season. The Riverhounds haven't won a league match since April 13 but they do have an Open Cup match against the Columbus Crew to look forward to next week.
Ottawa has climbed all the way up to fourth place in the Eastern Conference after winning four of its last six matches, but only one of those wins came against an opponent above 10th place.
