Here’s a look at how the Eastern Conference matches we highlighted in our preview last week ended up.

Tampa Bay Rowdies 1 – 1 Rochester Rhinos
Al Lang Stadium, St. Petersburg, Fla.

A brutal defensive miscommunication cost the Rowdies a goal just five minutes into the match, but Tampa Bay looked strong in its recovery. Marcel Schäfer fed Joe Cole for the equalizing goal in the 19th minute. The Rowdies dominated the match from there, but couldn’t find another breakthrough.

Charleston Battery 1 – 0 Richmond Kickers
MUSC Health Stadium, Charleston, S.C.

A Justin Portillo penalty kick in the 26th minute gave the Battery it narrow margin of victory at home over Richmond. Charleston was actually out-shot at home, but the Kickers couldn’t find a way past Odisnel Cooper to get a result.

New York Red Bulls II 0 – 3 Louisville City FC
MSU Soccer Park, Montclair, N.J.

Louisville City FC picked up a big road win Sunday afternoon with goals from Kyle Smith, Brian Ownby and Richard Ballard. The Red Bulls had a strong majority of possession and out-passed the visitors by a margin of about 150, but were beaten handily.
