Tonight, FC Tampa Bay are set to play Barclays (English) Premier League side Bolton Wanderers FC. The Trotters, who kick off their preseason tour of America in St Petersburg, will be beginning their 11th consecutive top flight season in England and have been a member of England's top division for 72 seasons.
Bolton Wanderers Football Club was founded in 1874, and is based out of Lostock in the Metropolitan Borough of Bolton, Greater Manchester. They play their home matches at The Reebok Stadium.
Bolton Wanderers FC boast four FA Cup titles, three coming in the 1920’s and their latest triumph in 1958. This past season, Bolton had a terrific run in the FA Cup, including victories over last season’s Europa League Finalists Fulham FC and Carling Cup Champion Birmingham City in the fourth and fifth rounds, respectively. The Trotters reached the semifinals but fell to the eventual runner-up Stoke City at Wembley Stadium.
FC Tampa Bay is coming off a 1-1 draw in Puerto Rico against the Islanders. During its preseason schedule in March, FC Tampa Bay drew BK Hacken of Sweden's top division 1-1 in Fort Lauderdale.
The Bolton Wanderers travel roster is as follows:
Goalkeepers: Adam Bogdan, Jussi Jaaskelainen, Rob Lainton
Defenders: Marcos Alonso, Gary Cahill, Mark Connolly, Zat Knight, Samuel Ricketts, Paul Robinson, Gretar Steinsson, David Wheater
Midfielders: Mark Davies, Sean Davis, Ricardo Gardner, Stuart Holden, Chung-Yong Lee, Fabrice Muamba, Tope Obadeyi, Martin Petrov, Darren Pratley, Matthew Taylor
Forwards: Robbie Blake, Kevin Davies, Tom Eaves, Ivan Klasnic, Tope Obadeyi
Although he has been named in the midfield, Stuart Holden is still recovering and training with the team but will not play. However, Holden will be signing autographs on the concourse prior to the match along with FC Tampa Bay's New Zealand World Cup star Jeremy Christie.
Bolton will look to build off their successes in last season’s FA Cup when the Barclays Premier League resumes this August. Manager Owen Coyle will be looking for his squad to be tested this preseason when they face FC Tampa Bay tonight.
