FC Tampa Bay players, coaches, staff and fans will soon walk into a completely revamped stadium in St. Petersburg, which they are calling home for the next two seasons. Al Lang Stadium’s extreme makeover will be complete by the end of March to be ready for the home opener on Saturday, April 9.
Al Lang’s renovations, which started in the beginning of February, have included repainting the entire stadium and refurbishing the press box, concession stands, merchandising, customer service, box office and seating sections. The signage for the field boxes and seat section indicators all show off the FC Tampa Bay colors and logo. The logo is also donned prominently on the side and front of Al Lang – seen from the streets of downtown St. Petersburg, as well as on the scoreboard.
The players are also receiving a revamp of their locker room with custom made lockers for individual players and coaches.
Because Al Lang is being tailored specifically to FC Tampa Bay, this year the soccer pitch will not have to double as a baseball field during the season. Field installation begins after the International Baseball Tournament ends on March 13. The field and stadium transformation will be complete by FC Tampa Bay’s home opener on Saturday, April 9th against Montreal at 7 p.m.
