The Tampa Bay Rowdies were honored on Thursday at the Meeting of the Governor and Cabinet in Tampa for the club's 2012 North American Soccer League Soccer Bowl Championship.
The meeting was held at the Florida State Fairgrounds, where Attorney General Pam Bondi presented a resolution honoring the club. The Attorney General introduced Owner, President & General Manager Andrew Nestor and Owner David Laxer before presenting the Resolution supported by the Florida Cabinet. Governor Rick Scott congratulated the Rowdies on their on-field performance, as well as for their involvement in the Tampa Bay community.
This was the fourth time that the Rowdies have been honored for their 2012 NASL Soccer Bowl Championship. Previously the club received a proclamation from the City of St. Petersburg, declaring November 8, 2012 as Tampa Bay Rowdies Day. On December 5, the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners honored the Rowdies with a commendation for the club’s success in the 2012 season. The Rowdies also received a resolution on December 18 from the Pasco County Board of County Commissioners supported by BCC Commissioner Henry Wilson of District 4 to honor the club for their 2012 NASL Soccer Bowl Championship.
