Rowdies Begin Preseason Training
Posted on Tue, Feb 5, 2013

The Tampa Bay Rowdies began their 2013 preseason on Tuesday morning, with a two hour training session. Most of the practice focused on getting the players back into rhythm with the first preseason match less than a week away.

“It’s great to finally have the players back at practice,” said head coach Ricky Hill. “We focused today on getting the players to move around, but we know it’s the first practice and we do not want anyone injured. With that being said, this weekend’s match will be a great test for many of the guys to see where they are as individuals.”

With the Disney Pro Soccer Classic approaching, the squad worked on keeping possession of the ball, something that Hill wants to replicate from last year.

“In the 2012 season we were one of the best teams moving the ball around,” commented Hill. “Having won the championship last year only pushes us to perfect our mistakes and preseason training is the moment to do so. It will be very important to put forth our best performance in the Disney Pro Soccer Classic, as we have a chance to show our talents at a national level.”

Tampa Bay will play against DC United on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 8:00 p.m. in their first match at the Disney Pro Soccer Classic. The Rowdies will then play their second group match against Montreal Impact on Wednesday, February 13 at 3:00 p.m., while playing ending group play against Sporting Kansas City on Saturday, February 16 at 8:00 p.m. All games will be played at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World.
