Preparing for Puerto Rico
Posted on Tue, Apr 12, 2011

FC Tampa Bay practiced for more than two hours Tuesday morning at Shimberg Fields as the club begins preparations for this Sunday's match against the defending league champion Puerto Rico Islanders.

The defense was able to shut out the Montreal Impact last Saturday in their home opener victory. The performance is one that defender JP Rodrigues wants to repeat.

“I thought our effort against Montreal in the back was tremendous,” said Rodrigues, “But it is going to be a tough game this week. Puerto Rico has (Nick) Addlery up top, who is a very strong and aggressive striker. The Islanders are a good team who won their first game on the road.”

Up front FCTB is looking to maintain its ball possession and create more opportunities in front of the net.

“The first game we had some good spells in the final third and tried to keep the ball in their half,” said midfielder Keith Savage. “I thought we got off to a good start.”
