Practice Update: Tuesday, August 21
Posted on Tue, Aug 21, 2012

The Rowdies returned to practice Tuesday morning with a two-hour training session at Shimberg Fields, looking forward to Saturday's match against the Puerto Rico Islanders at Al Lang Stadium.

The Tampa Bay Rowdies lost to first place San Antonio Scorpions on Sunday night by a final score of 4-0 at Heroes Stadium in San Antonio, TX. With the loss, Tampa Bay is now tied for second place in the NASL standings with the Puerto Rico Islanders. The loss on Sunday night is only the second loss for Tampa Bay in its last eleven league matches.

"It was a sobering game on Sunday night, this will be a long week to allow them to think about Sunday and prepare for Saturday night. Hopefully it allows them the time lick their wounds, get them back on the field with a good week of training and to get our own house in order.  We cannot predict what Puerto Rico will do during the match, but we can get our game plan in order from the 1st minute to the 90th minute and that will take hard work."

Hill commented on the focus of today’s training session and importance of having a quality training session after a difficult defeat.

"Today’s focus was to work as a defensive unit against direct play. It is extremely important for us to get back to the basic principles of defending and improve our overall quality of futbol moving forward as we go down the stretch run of the season."

Up next, the Rowdies will host the Puerto Rico Islanders for the final regular season meeting between the clubs on Saturday, August 25 at 7:30 p.m. ET at Al Lang Stadium. For tickets, call 813-287-1539 or click here.
