Practice Update: Tuesday, August 14
Posted on Tue, Aug 14, 2012

The Rowdies returned to practice Tuesday morning with a two-hour training session at Shimberg Fields, looking forward to Sunday's crucial match at San Antonio.

Tampa Bay played to a scoreless draw against the Atlanta Silverbacks on Saturday night at Al Lang Stadium. With the tie, Tampa Bay is now unbeaten in its last five matches and now has seven wins, two ties and just one loss over its last 10 games.

“We worked fairly hard and it’s been very hot, which is not easy for the players,” said Rowdies head coach Ricky Hill. “This week we’ll work on improving our supporting play from all over the pitch. We have done a session relating to that, with the play starting with keeping the ball in the midfield and working our way to the front end.”

Hill commented on the importance of training and staying fit, with the playoffs just over a month away.

“Having the entire squad healthy is very important throughout now and the end of the year,” said Hill. “We always look to improve our own performance on a day-to-day basis and most importantly on match days. I am hoping we can continue our unbeaten streak and we look to train intensely throughout the week as Sunday’s game approaches.”

Up next, the Rowdies travel to league leaders San Antonio for the final regular season meeting between the clubs on Sunday, August 19 at 8:30 p.m. ET at Heroes Stadium.
