With a two-game road trip on the horizon, the Rowdies practiced for more than two hours Tuesday morning at Shimberg Fields. Tampa Bay will head to the airport on Wednesday after a short training session for Thursday night's match at Minnesota.
Head coach Ricky Hill said it has been a productive week of practice thus far.
"Our first two days back after last week’s game on Wednesday against Fort Lauderdale were pretty demanding for the players," said Hill. "I guess the purpose of yesterday was to get them back, get their legs going again in terms of being physically active. And today we wanted to be a little bit sharper to prepare for Thursday night."
The Rowdies hit the road on a hot streak, having won four consecutive matches for the first time since the club's return in 2010. Hill said that winning can be contagious.
“You know you can’t replicate winning and it’s definitely a confidence thing," said Hill. "I’m hoping that through this winning streak they’ve acquired and accumulated a lot of confidence and belief, and take that to the things we are trying to do. I’m hoping that the positives among the squad can continue from now until the end of the season."
Following Thursday's match, the Rowdies face FC Edmonton this Sunday, July 15 at 4:00 p.m. ET at Clarke Stadium in Alberta, Canada. Tampa Bay returns home on Saturday, July 21 when it hosts Puerto Rico at 7:30 p.m. at Al Lang Stadium in downtown St. Petersburg. For ticket information, call 813-287-1539.
