Practice Update: Thursday, June 28
Posted on Thu, Jun 28, 2012

The Rowdies returned to the practice field Thursday morning at Al Lang Stadium as they prepare for the second match of a three-game homestand this Saturday night. Tampa Bay hosts the defending NASL champion Minnesota Stars FC at 7:30 p.m. at Al Lang Stadium this Saturday, June 30 on *tbt Night with the Rowdies.

Tampa Bay is on a two-match winning streak with come-from-behind victories in each of the last two weekends, including last Saturday's thrilling 3-2 win over San Antonio with two goals in the final minutes.

“I think everyone’s confidence is really high right now coming off two big wins," said midfielder Keith Savage. "Practice has still been very intense but it just feels like a little bit of the stress has been lifted and I think that makes the quality improve."

Tampa Bay and Minnesota are meeting for the third time in the last six weeks, with the Rowdies undefeated against the Stars this season. The two teams played to a scoreless draw at Al Lang on Friday, May 25 and the Rowdies rallied for a 2-1 victory at Minnesota on Saturday, June 16 in the most recent meeting, with Savage coming off the bench to score the game-winner in the 87th minute.

"Everyone is just in good  spirits and I think it is important for us to keep this winning streak going and continue to work our way to the top of the table," said Savage.

Following Saturday's home contest against the Stars, the Rowdies host Light Up the Bay 7.4 presented by Budweiser, their annual Fourth of July showdown with the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers at Al Lang Stadium, on Wednesday, July 4. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. and fans are invited to remain after the game to watch the City of St. Petersburg's fireworks from the field at Al Lang Stadium.
