Rowdies Notes
The Rowdies are undefeated in their last two NASL matches and stand in fourth place in the standings, but just five points behind league leader Puerto Rico.
Forward Daniel Antoniuk is tied for fourth in the league with four goals and ranks tied for sixth with nine points.
Rowdies captain Frankie Sanfilippo was named NASL Defensive Player of the Week following Tampa Bay's shutout of the unbeaten Minnesota Stars last Friday night. The scoreless draw in St. Petersburg snapped Minnesota's winning streak at three and the Stars were held scoreless for the first time in their last six matches.
Scouting Ft. Lauderdale
Midfielder Mark Anderson has scored in five of the last six matches in all competitions for the Strikers, including a fantastic goal in the U.S. Open Cup on Tuesday night. Anderson, Aly Hassan and Andy Herron are all tied for the team lead with three goals each in league play in 2012. Midfielder Walter Restrepo leads the league with four assists this season.
The Strikers are winless in their last five league matches (0-2-3) after starting the season with a 2-2-0 record.
Matt Glaeser has blocked more shots than any other goalkeeper this season with a total of 40 saves.
Quotable
Rowdies Head Coach Ricky Hill
"I am looking forward to the match against the Strikers. It is always an intense battle and we have seen some tightly contested games with Ft. Lauderdale. We are trying to bounce back from the disappointment of losing to the Rapids in the U.S. Open Cup on Tuesday night. We want to try and get a victory this Saturday as we return to league play against a very good opponent in the Strikers."
