FC Tampa Bay today announced the signing of D Omar Jarun (ja-rune) and F Warren Ukah (o-kah). In addition, the club signed preseason trialist F Matt Clare. The three contracts contain a club option for 2012.
Jarun, who has represented the Palestine National Team and was born in Kuwait, played 46 games over the last two years in the Polish First League for both Flota Świnoujście (34 matches) and Pogoń Szczecin (12 matches). Prior to that, he played professionally with the Atlanta Silverbacks in 2006 and 2007, as well as the 2008 Vancouver Whitecaps championship team. In two seasons in Atlanta, Jarun saw action in 53 total matches and logged more than 3,700 minutes for a club that finished runner-up in 2007. He played in 26 regular season and playoff games for the Whitecaps, in addition to three Canadian Championship games, for the 2008 USL First Division Champions.
Ukah played in 19 games with 11 starts for NSC Minnesota last season and scored one goal after seeing action with the Rochester Rhinos during the 2009 campaign. Prior to that, he spent three seasons (2006-08) with the Silverbacks. As a member of the Milwaukee Wave of the MISL, he was named to the 2007-2008 MISL All Rookie Team.
Clare, the son of former Ft. Lauderdale Strikers defender John Clare, played in the Premier Development League with the West Virginia Chaos in 2008, scoring two goals in eight games played. In 2009, he appeared in 10 matches with the Bradenton Academics and tallied one goal.
