Practice Update: Monday, April 9
Posted on Mon, Apr 9, 2012

With the 2012 season opener behind them, the Rowdies opened the week on Monday with a training session lasting more than two hours at Shimberg Fields.

Looking ahead to the home opener this Saturday, April 14 against FC Edmonton at Al Lang Stadium in downtown St. Petersburg, Rowdies head coach Ricky Hill spoke after practice this morning.

“We've had a hard morning,” said Hill. “The players have been very vibrant as you'd expect them to be, and the quality of the session was quite good. We've worked fairly long, but at the same time, it's early in the week and there are certain things we need to work on and build on gradually come opening day on Saturday."

Hill said the team has several things to focus on this week.

"We always work every week on our forward play, our execution, our decision making in the final third, and our composure in trying to create as many opportunities as we can for each other,” said Hill. “We are going to spend extra time on set pieces because we fell asleep, we lacked concentration only once, but that one time cost us three points.”

The Rowdies return this Saturday, April 14 when they host FC Edmonton at Al Lang Stadium in downtown St. Petersburg in the 2012 home opener. Tickets start as low as $10 and fans can call 813-287-1539 for more information.

Rowdies sponsor New Clients has partnered with the team to give away Rowdies Roll-A-Banners to the first 500 fans at the home opener on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m., with the gates opening one hour prior.
