Rowdies Return to Practice
Posted on Mon, Mar 5, 2012

After a day off on Sunday, the Rowdies returned to the practice field on Monday morning at Shimberg Fields for the start of a busy second week.

After nearly two hours on the field, the team spent the afternoon in the weight room at Lifestyle Family Fitness, one of the club’s official sponsors.

Head Coach Ricky Hill, who celebrated his birthday on Monday, was pleased with the workouts.

“We had a good morning, despite a few players having a few bumps and bruises from this past weekend,” said Hill. “We worked a lot on the physical and technical elements of the game today. The main purpose for this week is to try and build that base fitness, and every day try to add a little more to that.”

On Tuesday night, the club will hold its first night practice of the season at Braden River Soccer Club in Bradenton (5490 Lakewood Ranch Boulevard, Bradenton 34207). The session, which will take place from 6:30-7:30 p.m., is free and open to the public.

The rest of the week includes morning training sessions on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday before the 2012 Rowdies Rush Preseason Tour continues this Saturday, March 10. The Rowdies will face Eckerd College at the Premier Sports Campus at Lakewood Ranch in Bradenton at 6:30 p.m.

Tampa Bay will face the Tritons in a match that will be hosted by the Chargers Soccer Club. The Premier Sports Campus at Lakewood Ranch is located at 5895 Post Blvd, Bradenton, FL 34202. There is an admission charge of $5 per car and concessions will be available for purchase.
