After a short set of warm up drills, Head Coach Ricky Hill had the FC Tampa Bay squad scrimmage the full length of the field at Thursday's practice. The main focus of training being on a new line up for FCTB and becoming more comfortable with the different style of play.
Goalkeeper Daryl Sattler commented on Hill's approach to the FCTB line up and how the players are looking as a unified team on the pitch.
"Coach has us playing some new formations," said Sattler. "We are playing a lot more attractive soccer."
Hill wrapped the session up by giving the players pointers on how to strengthen their play on and off the ball as individuals and as a team as a whole.
After practice newly signed midfielder Tony McManus said he is getting to know the guys and is learning the team's style of play.
"It's a lot different than what I'm accustomed to but it fits me well," said McManus. "There is a lot more possession and hard work involved."
FCTB players spent the rest of the afternoon fitness training at the Athlete's Compound at Saddlebrook Resort.
The team is gearing up to play Florida Gulf Coast University this Saturday, March 19, in their third preseason game of the year. The game is set to kick off at 4 p.m. at the Brandon Area Youth Soccer League Club and admission is free.
