FC Tampa Bay continued to work hard Wednesday morning at practice at Shimberg Fields with a session that lasted more than two hours. The emphasis of the practice came in the form of a 8 v 8 scrimmage.
Head coach Ricky Hill said after practice that he is pleased where the team stands at this point in the preseason.
“Practice was quite intense right from the start with a good tempo,” said Hill.
With a few preseason matches remaining, Hill said that monitoring the players will be important as the season opener on April 9 draws closer.
“We will definitely have to stay on top of stress and strains and maybe their fatigue element,” said Hill. “It’s important that we maintain a healthy condition with all of the squad and hope that we have a couple of players who are carrying slight injuries at the moment, like Pascal (Millien) and (Sanel) Boric, back within the ranks within the next four or five days. We are still building towards the first game.
The team continues to stay focused on the task ahead, preparing for opening day on against the Montreal Impact.
“My main focus and (assistant coach) David Hayes' main focus at this current time is to insure that we as a team are prepared physically and mentally for what lies ahead,” added Hill.
